Baby turkeys

Baby birds - they are gone but they were fun to watch while they were on the porch.

We had 7 baby turkeys (not sure if there is some correct name for baby turkeys) in our backyard this evening. You can only see 3 in this picture. I need to get a lens with more zoom. They scare easily so I had to stay on the porch.

My new car seat!

Asher has outgrown his infant car seat. He is 29.5 inches per our Dr. visit last week and that leaves only 1/2 inch left on height before he was unsafe. It was quite funny because his 9 month check up was a week later than normal b/c the Dr was on vacation. I swear he grew in that week b/c some 12-18 month shorts that were a little loose and long on him - all of the sudden fit him rather well the following week. He was suddenly in the 85% in terms of height - he has been consistently in the 50% on both height and weight. I really think if we had scheduled the visit for the week before he would have been closer to the 50th percentile on height but who knows....

Fresh Peaches are yummy!

Asher has 4 teeth now and working on getting his top incisors any day now. He is doing quite well eating grown up food. We took him out to a restaurant this past weekend and for the first time ordered him something from the kiddy menu. Mainly because I am trying to feed him fresh food as opposed to that jar baby food when I can and I was all out of fresh stuff before we ventured out. It is time to go to the grocery store.

Who needs a walker when you can use a box!

Here is some video of Asher pushing around the box from his new car seat. I was trying to get him to crawl inside but as usual he had plans of his own.

Baseball anyone?

We took Asher to see a Pirates game here in PA the sunday before last. It was a perfect day to be outside and there was an afternoon game. (Picture provided by Matt's cell phone who was harassing me yesterday for not posting anything in two weeks) I guess PA is having an unseasonably cool summer which has actually been quite awesome. I have not missed the 100 degree heat I have heard about in Dallas the past month. This week we finally are in the mid-80s but with the humidity it does feel more like 90. However, the nice part is that when the sun goes down - it actually cools down a bit. What a concept!

Let's see - What has Asher been doing lately? I take him out to wave goodbye to his dad every morning and he has started waving bye when provoked the past week but this morning we walked outside and stood at the ledge while we watch daddy get into his car and he started waving all by himself. Matt was so excited. It was a great way to send dad off to work. He is one curious little boy. He loves to crawl up the stairs and often will make his way up two flights of stairs when he wants to go to his playroom. Not sure if he really knows that is his ultimate destination but he has done it on more than one occasion but not all the time. This week he has discovered the toilet and wants to put his hands in it. Yuck. Time for the safety locks for those too.

Baby Birds

It is hard to see but I stood on a chair to try to snap a picture of the nest. We have seen their little beaks peaking out over the top of the nest but I don't have enough of a zoom to catch that one without scaring off the parents. they are tag teaming bringing worms a plenty the past few days. I will try for a better one in a few days.

our photo shoot outside today

Concentrating face. Asher is an intense observer of anything new.

I had fun playing with the camera I got for Christmas while snapping pictures of one of my favorite subjects. He has two top teeth now in addition to the bottom ones. He loves to test them out sometimes on my t-shirts and sometimes my skin. You have to be careful. He is starting to recognize the words repeated over and over to him all the time. For example, I use "nasty" when he is going to put something like a rock or grass he has pulled up from the yard in his mouth. now that he is learning to eat...he wants to put everything in his mouth. Who can hardle blame him when he has been experiencing a whole new world of food. He had feta cheese this past weekend and LOVED it. It was in a salad someone brought to our house. Who would have thought? I have given him mozarella - he could take it or leave it. He prefered pushing it around on the tray. he does all right with the cheddar cheese but he could not get enough feta. Everyone with kids nows the stage. Whenever adults are eating...I want to try something too. He is making all kinds of noises and sounds these days. his latest is a the "Ka" sound. sometimes it almost sounds as if he is saying cat.

Soft grass

I love the grass here in PA. We get quite a bit of rain here and the grass is super soft and awesome for walking around in your bare feet. Asher took a stroll in the front yard of our house the other day after Matt mowed the grass.

Almost walking

My mom said I was walking at 9 months. I think Asher is on track to do the same. He wants to walk in the worst way and this is his favorite toy as of this past Add Imageweek every morning when he wakes up. This boy is going to keep me busy! He is all over the place.

Our Summer Visitors

A robin decided to make its nest in my hanging plant on our patio. I pulled down the nest to take a picture of the awesome birds nest they made and found these to my surprise. I hope we don't have to battle the Robin on our patio once the young ones arrive.
