Photography class

Yesterday I had the chance to take a photography class to learn how to use our fancy camera. It was an awesome class and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area. I can't wait to start to play around and build upon the basic skills they taught. It made learning the F-stop or aperture, shutter speed and ISO a lot easier than reading books. I am sure you would get there with books but the class was sooooo much more efficient in giving you some good tools from which to begin. Hopefully, my photographs will improve throughout the year. I would love to take another class someday focusing more on composition but one thing at a time.

Finger Painting anyone?

We decided this rainy morning would be a great time to test out some finger painting. Asher enjoyed it for all of 5 minutes. What do you expect from a 15 month old. He also had to test out and put a little in his mouth.

Few fun tidbits about Asher these days

I have not posted anything in a while about our boy so I thought I would tell a few stories.

He has learned to say No and likes using it a lot this past month. Typically it is No, No, No in threes for some reason. I don't do the No-no thing just a simple No. He can say a few two syllable words - Tur-Dul, Ap-ple, but-ball (football) or sometimes hockey gets called the same. He is at that stage where what he ate yesterday he won't touch today. One of his favorite words is "wow" these days. He still loves to dance - every time we are at the mall and we walk past abercrombie - we have to stop and let him dance. (this is a store that plays very loud music). Today he was enamored with one of the guys who works there because he was dancing with him so he had to stop and check out everything he was doing.

Maybe all kids are just as curios but I only have 1 as a frame of reference but he loves to see how things work and he doesn't seem to miss any details. He hears freaking everything and recognizes every noise. If the blow dryer is going off upstairs and the TV is on - he will hear it - Da-Da, Da-Da, etc or an airplane flying overhead that I don't really notice until he is pointing up to the sky saying "ah, ah, ah". Crazy. I guess it is all new to them so they just pick up on the things that adults learn to tune out. I thought it was just men but I am just a guilty.

We can ask him if he is ready for a bath at night and if he is - he will come and grab your finger and head up the stairs towards his bathtub or start saying "ba", "ba", "ba". tonight i did not have to ask - he drug me up there. I thought it was to go upstairs and play but he was ready for bed.

I can't believe he is already 15 months and was 32 1/4 inches for his checkup and 25 pounds. He just got his 4 eye teeth and almost has his 4th molar through. Tough kid - 5 teeth in a row. Where has the time gone. He is not a baby any more but we are having lots of fun even though he has learned to through himself on the ground when he doesn't get what he wants! As it should be.

Asher's First Sled Ride

In his snow pants after sledding, doesn't he look so cute! He happens to be getting into the dog food which is one of his favorite past times these days. I choose not to fight him too much on this since he does not eat the food and it is relatively harmless in the big scheme of things.
Here is some video of Asher's first sled ride. His latest deal is to say "woow" at anything that makes him happy but also those things that scare him at first. However, these "woow's" in the video are happy ones because he wanted to sled more after we played in the snow a bit. The poor kid does look like the little brother from "A Christmas Story". His snow suit does fit (thanks Adam, Katie & Aleah) but he also has some room to grow in it. We have been getting a lot of snow around here this week and it is predicted we will get some more in the next few days.
