Kennedy

Matt, Asher & I got a treat this week because we got a surprise visit from our goddaughter, Kennedy and her mom and dad, Scott & Toni. We only got to visit briefly because they came into town for Kennedy's great grandmother's funeral. She was 93 and is at peace now. We are excited b/c they will be staying with us on Sunday so we get a little more time to visit. Doesn't she have beautiful eyes? And you know matt was excited because she loves bacon and anyone who knows Matt knows he has an affinity for bacon.

Eating Cereal

Asher is doing pretty well eating cereal. He has been trying for about a week. He can swallow but he is still not completely sure he loves rice cereal. I am sure it will be better when I can mix it with a little fruit but the Dr. said I have to wait a few weeks before doing as much.

Playdate with Grandpa

It was very funny. Grandpa went upstairs to play with Asher in his playroom and Emerson sat down right in between Asher and Grandpa and would not budge. He has been missing all the attention he used to get. Asher is suddenly fascinated with Emerson and loves to reach out and pet him and often laughs when Em walks around. So, Asher reached over to give Emerson a taste.

Cutting a few teeth

Well, today Asher just started crying while he was playing and wasn't hungry, tired or wet. I decided to check his mouth because I saw him doing the "old man" with no teeth sort of face. He is definitely cutting teeth on the top. I felt them. I don't know how long these things take but I would guess that within 2 weeks, he will have a few teeth. Fun for breastfeeding I am sure!

So, we gave him some baby orajel and he started laughing like a few seconds after he had it. It was very funny.

I want to sit please!!

Asher loves to be sitting rather than laying down. I am sure most babies go through this insistence on sitting and stomach crunching phase but the noises are funny. So, I stuck him in his highchair with some blankets and let him play with some toys a few weeks back and he really likes it. He also tried cereal for the first time this week and did pretty well. He still makes faces when you feed him but he knows how to swallow and will open his mouth for the spoon most of the time. We will post some video for the folks out of town soon.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes.....

As everyone knows I am going part time starting next week. I am super excited about actually getting to play with Asher and actually see how he is learning new things all the time. I have missed that immensely the past month. As excited as I am, it is a transition with work. I now report to the person who took my previous job. She is great and I am lucky to have a wonderful person to work with these days. However, I won't say that it has not been a bit difficult for me to let go sometimes. I know it won't be an issue in a month and this is just the normal process for change. it is the balance between the professional, which I have spent 35 years of my life pursuing to the best of my ability, and suddenly having to....well, let it go as part of my identity and maybe just simply let go of the reins. It is a good thing b/c work should never define a person but it happens to us all somewhere along our path in life. I am blessed to be able to make this change and have this experience.....but some days are easier than others to process during the transition.

Happy Birthday Grannie

We look forward to seeing you in about 3 weeks. You still look 21! Ha, everyone knows you will never admit to being a day older. For years, it was 18 but then one day she slipped and said 21. I think she wanted to be over the legal drinking age and I have never let her go back to 18. (grin) Love, Asher, Heather & Matt.

I am not sure what Grannie has on her eyeballs here but she is with her beloved horse, Montana!

how handsome are these boys!

These are the Darnell boys...michelle and greg's to be exact. These are my cousins and Asher's second cousins. We used to visit every Easter but alas we will have to miss this year. Michelle, I hardly recognized Graham from the Christmas photos at Ceila's house. Hopefully, I will be able to visit in a few months should I have to make a trip to Austin for work which by the way I GO PART TIME the first of March. I can hardly wait!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Two Engagements!

Papa Doolan & Lisa Taylor got engaged right before they visited us in PA and we were glad dad finally popped the question. We all knew it was a matter of time b/c Lisa was still around after they dated for a year! That is the first time that has happened.

Drew and Donetta on their recent engagement. We are excited to have such a wonderful woman joining the Curry Clan.

One spoiled dog!

Matt tucked him in under the blankets one morning as he was laying on the pillow. What a rough life.

Daddy time

I left Asher with Matt to take a shower one morning in this position and I came out to find them him still hanging out with daddy watching TV. Too cute.

I'm kind of a big deal

As some of you may remember from our wedding, there was a picture of Matt wearing a t-shirt that his brother, Adam, gave him that said I'm Kind of a Big Deal which is a quote from Anchorman which I have seen more times than I care to admit. Laurie and Adney Stowe made this shirt for Asher and sent it to him. We had to get a picture to put next to the one taken by our dear friend, John Cunningham. I would have taken a picture of Matt in his t-shirt with Asher but alas that was lost when matt lost his luggage on our honeymoon.
