Safety First

not the best picture - took it with my phone but you might wonder what in the world he is wearing!
Uncle Drew bought Asher a work table with screws/screwdrivers/ saw and the likes. It also included safety goggles. Some days - things just stick and I have tried to put them on him in the past and he would wear them for a few seconds. Today - he rather enjoyed wearing them b/c every time he took them off he wanted them back on! It was very cute indeed. He loves his workbench. Thanks Uncle Drew & Donetta.
In the front of the picture is Elmo with his "stand-up" stool on his head. He is convinced it should be a hat instead.

Happy Birthday Grannie

We love you and miss you! I hope you are out doing something fun and fantastic for your birthday. Asher says "hi deer"... he loves to say high to everything. Lady bugs, etc. I can always tell when the deer are in the backyard in the evenings b/c I hear in a very sweet higher inflection tone - "Hi deer". Love you!

2 feet of snow in 24 hours

this is the view from our front porch. Normally, you see a road straight below but you would be hard pressed to tell where the bottom of the hill really is in this picture. It really was beautiful and i must say - still is. more snow today. I would guess we have had 30-34 inches total the past week.

Asher sitting on a pile of snow after Matt finished shoveling.
It took a lot of hours to finish that driveway!
he is showing us how far the snow comes up on his shovel. We had a neighbor come by and offer Matt his snow blower which he kindly refused. This was his way to exercise.
Here is matt as he begins to find our driveway. You could not even see where there was a street before in some of these pictures. Notice the snow comes up to his knees. We woke up to no power this morning and had no power for 3 1/2 days. We were really grateful to whomever was working out there at 3 Am who finally got our power back on. Of course, Asher really never knew the difference other than he did not have to sleep in his crib. We had no heat in his room.

Eating snacks

Here is a picture of a daily occurrence - snacks in his chair while catching a show he loves. His favorites are Elmo, Mickey Mouse clubhouse and Yo Gabba Gabba. Notice the sly little smile on his lips in this one. We were watching a small part of the hockey game that DaDa was attending. Go Penguins as long as they don't play the Dallas Stars.

Happy Birthday Uncle Adam

Aleah getting pushed around in the box by uncle Drew
Kiddos taking a ride in the toy box. I think they had more fun crawling in and out of the box than playing with the toys!
Asher is playing with Uncle Drew. He is always great with the kids and they love their Uncle Drew.

I am woefully behind on posting blog updates. Here are some pictures taken at Gigi's & grandpa's house (Matt's mom & dad) at the end of January. We went over there to celebrate Adam's birthday. Actually, Adam & I share exactly the same birthday and age.

Video from playing at the mall

Here is some video taken with Mely's phone (She watches Asher during the day) and it is quite good for a phone if I do say so myself. She is very sweet to send me pictures or video from their outings from time-to-time. He is quite the ham and I am thinking might have his father's personality. He seems to like being the center of attention as do most toddlers. In this one, a little girl is copying him and what he is doing at the mall. Too cute.

Photography class

Yesterday I had the chance to take a photography class to learn how to use our fancy camera. It was an awesome class and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area. I can't wait to start to play around and build upon the basic skills they taught. It made learning the F-stop or aperture, shutter speed and ISO a lot easier than reading books. I am sure you would get there with books but the class was sooooo much more efficient in giving you some good tools from which to begin. Hopefully, my photographs will improve throughout the year. I would love to take another class someday focusing more on composition but one thing at a time.

Finger Painting anyone?

We decided this rainy morning would be a great time to test out some finger painting. Asher enjoyed it for all of 5 minutes. What do you expect from a 15 month old. He also had to test out and put a little in his mouth.

Few fun tidbits about Asher these days

I have not posted anything in a while about our boy so I thought I would tell a few stories.

He has learned to say No and likes using it a lot this past month. Typically it is No, No, No in threes for some reason. I don't do the No-no thing just a simple No. He can say a few two syllable words - Tur-Dul, Ap-ple, but-ball (football) or sometimes hockey gets called the same. He is at that stage where what he ate yesterday he won't touch today. One of his favorite words is "wow" these days. He still loves to dance - every time we are at the mall and we walk past abercrombie - we have to stop and let him dance. (this is a store that plays very loud music). Today he was enamored with one of the guys who works there because he was dancing with him so he had to stop and check out everything he was doing.

Maybe all kids are just as curios but I only have 1 as a frame of reference but he loves to see how things work and he doesn't seem to miss any details. He hears freaking everything and recognizes every noise. If the blow dryer is going off upstairs and the TV is on - he will hear it - Da-Da, Da-Da, etc or an airplane flying overhead that I don't really notice until he is pointing up to the sky saying "ah, ah, ah". Crazy. I guess it is all new to them so they just pick up on the things that adults learn to tune out. I thought it was just men but I am just a guilty.

We can ask him if he is ready for a bath at night and if he is - he will come and grab your finger and head up the stairs towards his bathtub or start saying "ba", "ba", "ba". tonight i did not have to ask - he drug me up there. I thought it was to go upstairs and play but he was ready for bed.

I can't believe he is already 15 months and was 32 1/4 inches for his checkup and 25 pounds. He just got his 4 eye teeth and almost has his 4th molar through. Tough kid - 5 teeth in a row. Where has the time gone. He is not a baby any more but we are having lots of fun even though he has learned to through himself on the ground when he doesn't get what he wants! As it should be.
